BNP Paribas Corporate & Investment Banking (BNP Paribas) has appointed Stephen Hale, as Head of Hedge Fund Relationship Management Europe, further strengthening the bank’s European coverage of  hedge funds.   Hale joined the Investor Relationship Management team in London at the end of April and reports to Stefano Blotto, Head of Investor Relationship Management team in Europe. Stephen will be responsible for further expanding the BNPP’s hedge funds  franchise across Europe leveraging his wealth of experience and strong client contacts. The Dow Jones Credit Suisse Core Hedge Fund Index, which provides daily valuations allowing investors to more accurately track the impact of market events of the hedge fund industry, finished up 1.44% in April. Oliver Schupp (pictured), President of Credit Suisse Index Co., LLC, says: "After a downturn mid-month, the Dow Jones Credit Suisse Core Hedge Fund Index rebounded to finish up 1.44% in April. Managed Futures was the best performing sector, gaining 4.78% for the month as trading models successfully picked up on reversals in market movements across sectors."
Quintillion has been chosen to provide administration services to the Derwent Absolute Return Fund. Derwent Capital Markets has already attracted a large amount of publicity around the launch of the Absolute Return Fund. The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has filed an enforcement action charging Jeffrey L Groendyke of Middleville, Michigan, doing business as JG Forex Fund (JGF), with fraud and misappropriation in connection with an off-exchange foreign currency (forex) Ponzi scheme that defrauded at least 54 customers of at least USD953,305 since May 2010. Groendyke has never been registered with the CFTC in any capacity. The CFTC complaint charges Groendyke with misappropriating at least $600,000 of customer funds for purposes other than forex trading. EDHEC Business School is holding the fifth edition of the EDHEC Research Day in London on 28 June at the Victoria Park Plaza.
