Two investors in AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc are suing hedge fund Antara Capital LP, which holds roughly 30% of the company’s controversial APE preferred units, for the return of alleged short-swing profits, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Blockstone Capital, a London-based, FCA-authorised alternative investment fund manager, has launched a new digital asset fund of hedge funds, which is available to institutional and other professional investors, and “carefully curates its portfolio to include only the top-tier funds and managers”.
The most shorted large-cap stocks in the Americas in May were mining and tech companies including Localiza, Ivanhoe Mines, Canadian Natural Resources, and Tesla, according to the new Shortside Crowdedness Report from Hazeltree, a monthly listing of the top 10 shorted securities in the Americas, EMEA and APAC regions in the large-, mid-, and small-cap exchanges.
Among this group, Ivanhoe Mines saw the highest institutional supply utilisation rate (19.82%) – one of three metrics used try Hazeltree to track shorting activity – which represents the percentage of the institutional investors’ supply of a particular security that is being lent out.

Fulcrum Asset Management, a provider of diversified macro investment products, has appointed Christopher Carroll as head of hedge fund business development. Carroll joins Fulcrum’s expanding US team, which is run by Paul Seaton, head of North America.
London-based Fulcrum has had a presence in the US for a decade, but Carroll is the first professional enlisted to focus on presenting the firm’s higher volatility hedge fund product to North American institutions.
The investment team at Fulcrum is led by Suhail Shaikh, chief investment officer, who joined Fulcrum in 2005 from Goldman Sachs.

The prospect of the US economy going into recession later this year, has prompted Citadel boss Ken Griffin, whose firm racked up a record $16 billion return for clients last year, to increase his focus on credit trading, according to a report by Bloomberg.
In an interview in Hong Kong, Griffin reportedly said that his hedge fund is particularly focused on the high-yield credit market, with a mix of long and short strategies. “We’ll look at the credit markets as a source of opportunity,” he said. “Credit should be a meaningful contributor later this year, and next for Citadel.”
