New York-based hedge fund firm Hunting Hill Global Capital, a specialist in global arbitrage investments with $364 million in assets under management, has launched a new crypto and digital asset-focused affiliate, Hunting Hill Digital, with the backing of early-stage VC investor BaseLayer ventures.

In preparation for an anticipated end to the US Federal Reserve’s programme of interest rate hikes, hedge funds are going long on short-term interest-rate futures tied to the Secured Overnight Financing Rate, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Goldman Sachs has lost another trader to a hedge fund firm, with Rick Vaatsra leaving the bank’s London office this month, to join multi-strategy major Millennium Management as a senior portfolio manager based in London. Vaatsra spent over 10 years at Goldman Sachs, most recently as co-head of European index trading, having originally joined the bank as an equity derivatives trader back in November 2012. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Vaatsra, who studied finance and economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam, according to his LinkedIn profile, spent over six years at Credit Suisse as a vice president.
Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) chief executive Ramon Monzon believes allowing short selling could help attract foreign money from global hedge funds, but is facing opposition to his plans from local regulators, according to a report by The Financial Times. The wild price swings that were seen during the GameStop frenzy when an army of online traders decided to take on the hedge funds that had shorted the US video game retailer, are reportedly cause for concern for the Philippines Securities and Exchange Commission. Prior to joining Clear Street, Hurty spent over seven years at AO Asset Management, a long-short technology, media and telecommunications hedge fund manager, most recently as principal, head of marketing & investor relations. Long-short equity hedge fund manager Peconic Partners has reclaimed the number one spot on HedgeFollow’s Top 20 Best Performing Hedge Funds list, with a three-year performance figure of +191.50%, according to the latest rankings from the hedge fund tracker. Hedge fund Standard General has terminated its acquisition agreement with US TV station operator Tegna, which manages 64 TV stations in 51 US markets, after failing to overcome a number of regulatory hurdles, according to a report by Reuters.
