London-based hedge fund Covalis Capital has proposed a rival list of board candidates to those put forward by the Italian government last week for state-owned renewable energy company Enel, according to a report by Reuters.
The report cites a statement made by Covalis claiming that the system that led to the government’s nominations “undermines investor confidence, erodes value and is out of line with international standards of best practice in shareholder democracy.”

Fredrik Gentzel, the former chief executive officer of Capula Investment Management, a hedge fund specialising in bond and macro economic trading strategies, is joining $8 billion investment firm Orchard Global as its chief operating officer (COO) based in London.
In his new role at Orchard, which lends to banks, asset managers, and others using structured finance, as well as risk transfer solutions, Gentzel will be responsible for client data and information delivery as well helping the firm grow assets and expand its product offering.

Mayer Brown has appointed Jason Friedman as a partner in the firm’s Banking & Finance practice, where he will represent borrowers, private equity sponsors, banks, hedge funds, alternative asset managers and other institutional investors on leveraged finance and private credit transactions.
Aaro Capital, a specialist in digital assets and digital ledger technology investments, has appointed Axel Ullmann as sales director. Ullman, who joins the firm from Degroof Petercam Asset Management (DPAM) where he served as as Senior International Sales Director for six years, will be working closely with CEO Peter Habermacher, and fellow sales director Liz Adnitt, who joined Aaro from Sanlam Investments in January of this year.
Ullman will be based in Germany and take on respsonsiblity for overseeing sales and distribution activities in the region, including the development of new and existing institutional client relationships.

Digital asset investment products saw inflows totalling $114 million last week, the forth consecutive week of positive flows as sentiment for the asset class continues to improve, according to the latest Digital Asset Fund Flows Weekly report from CoinShares.
Total inflows over the last four week now stand at $345million.
