The pace of hedge fund net redemptions slowed in July to $16.88 billion (-0.35% of industry assets), according to the Barclay Fund Flow Indicator published by BarclayHedge. A $124.13 billion trading profit during the month brought total hedge fund industry assets to more than $4.99 trillion as July ended.    Net Redemptions were the norm across most hedge fund subsectors in July. Those bucking the trend were led by Multi-Strategy funds, which were up $4.49 billion (+0.66% of industry assets). Alternative investments firms saw a significant increase in interest in 2022, according to Peregrine Communications’ second annual Alts 50 report assessing the integrated marketing communications (IMC) performance of the alternative investment management industry. The report found that nearly three-in-four (74%) firms saw increasing brand awareness over time. Billionaire hedge fund investor Ken Griffin believes that a US recession is inevitable and could happen as soon as next year, according to a report by the Financial Times. Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has suspended Christopher James Aarons, responsible officer (RO) and chief executive officer of hedge fund Trafalgar Capital Management (HK) Ltd (Trafalgar), for two years from 27 September 2022 to 26 September 2024 after the Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal (SFAT) upheld the SFC’s disciplinary action against him for breaches of the SFC’s Code of Conduct. The SFC’s disciplinary action followed administrative proceedings against Aarons in South Korea. FX HedgePool, a peer-to-peer, institutional FX matching platform, has appointed Karen Phillips as Head of Business Development, based in New York.  In her new role, Phillips will lead the firm’s sales and relationship management efforts and report directly to CEO and Co-Founder, Jay Moore.
