BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) has appointed Mark Richards as Head of Flexible & Absolute Return within its Multi-Asset, Quantitative & Solutions (MAQS) investment division. Richards is based in London and reports to Maya Bhandari, Global Head of Multi-Asset.  In his new role, Richards will be responsible for the performance of BNPP AM’s flexible and absolute return funds and ensuring the alignment of portfolios with the views of the Investment Committee. New York-based hedge fund Perceptive Advisors, has agreed to pay a $1.5 million penalty to settle SEC charges that it failed to disclose conflicts of interest regarding certain special acquisition Companies (SPACs). According to the SEC, in 2020, Perceptive advised its clients to invest in a series of SPACs that were sponsored by a private fund that Perceptive advised without disclosing the connection. Digital asset investment products saw minor inflows totalling $9.2 million, according to the latest Weekly Fund Flows Report from CoinShares, although the predominant inflow was into short investment products. Bitcoin saw outflows totalling $11 million, representing the fourth consecutive week of outflows, at a total of $70 million. Short-Bitcoin investment products meanwhile, saw a record $18 million in inflows last week bringing total AuM to a record $158 million.​​​​​​ Altcoins saw minor inflows, notably from Solana and Avalanche which each saw inflows totalling $0.5 million.​​​​​​  
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has issued an order filing and settling charges against Natixis, requiting the  global bank and swap dealer to pay a $2.8 million penalty for failure to diligently supervise traders on the bank’s New York-based Interest Rate Derivatives Desk (IRD Desk) and its Equity Derivatives Flow and Solution Trading Desk (FAST Desk).  The traders on the IRD Desk and FAST Desk separately engaged in misconduct by mismarking their positions for the purpose of either inflating profits and minimising losses, or to “smooth” out returns, respectively.  As well as the penalty, Natixis is required to cease and
