The FCA has set out its supervisory strategy for operators in the alternative assets space in an open letter to the CEOs of alternative investment firms, according to a report by Investments & Pensions Europe.
The letter, written by the FCA’s head of asset management and pensions policy warns that the regulator’s priorities are in line with the its business plan commitment, with integrity of the markets and market abuse, ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance), and consumer needs, all mentioned.

Commodities and energy asset classes have been strong performers
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has drafted a new rule aimed at increasing the amount of leverage information disclosed by hedge and other private funds, according to a report by Reuters.
The report cites an unnamed source as revealing that the new rule would increase the level of information on leverage provided by funds as part of their confidential Form-PF disclosures. The proposed change would also apply to fund advisors operating as commodity traders and investors under Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) rules.

The managed futures industry slipped to a monthly loss in July, down -0.64% according to the Barclay CTA Index, compiled by BarclayHedge. Despite the fall, CTAs remain in positive territory for the year, up 7.68%. CTAs had posted gains in six of the prior seven months.
Most but not all CTA subsectors were in the red for July. The Currency Traders Index picked up +33 basis points and the Discretionary Traders Index came in just above neutral with a 0.04% result. Following a second quarter of heavy losses the Cryptocurrency Traders Index regained some of its mojo in July, bouncing back 22.92%.

Hodlnaut, a Singapore-based cryptocurrency lender founded in 2019, has become the latest digital assets firm to suspend withdrawals.
