Dave Sauvarin has assumed responsibility as managing director of Northern Trusts’s Jersey office. Sauvarin, who was most recently head of Northern Trust’s UK listed real estate administration team in Guernsey, replaces Paul Guilbert, who has been appointed as head of private equity in Guernsey. In his role, Sauvarin is responsible for managing Northern Trust’s Jersey office, which provides specialist services and expertise for a range of traditional and alternative assets including real estate, private equity, infrastructure funds, hedge and fund of hedge funds administration. The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has issued an Interpretation that relates to anti-fraud authority provided in the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank Act). The Interpretation is the CFTC’s view of the meaning of the term “actual delivery,” and guidance on how the CFTC will determine if the actual delivery exception applies to a transaction. The Commission voted on the Interpretation, and will no longer consider this item during the open meeting on December 5. The European Fund and Asset Management Association (EFAMA) has published, in cooperation with SWIFT, a new report on the evolution of automation and standardisation rates of fund orders received by transfer agents (TAs) in the cross-border fund centres of Luxembourg and Ireland in the first half of 2011.  The new report is part of an on-going campaign by EFAMA and SWIFT to highlight the advancement of automation and standardisation rates of orders of cross-border funds. The Credit Suisse LAB Index was down 0.39% in November according to Dr Jordan Drachman, Head of Research for Alternative Beta Strategies at Credit Suisse. Drachman says: "The Credit Suisse Liquid Alternative Beta Index (CSLAB), which aims to reflect the performance of the overall hedge fund industry, finished down 0.39% in November. Despite the decline, three of the five sectors posted positive performance. Merger Arbitrage was the best performer, finishing up 0.36%, and is currently the highest performing sector year-to-date, up 3.95%. Meanwhile, Event Driven was the lowest performing strategy, down 1.57% for the month."
