Alex Arnold, Former CEO and Research Director of Detwiler Fenton & Co, has joined Odeon Capital Group as a Managing Director on the firm’s Equity Research team, covering the Consumer sector as well as Technology and Media.
At Detwiler, Arnold constructed the firm’s research model around TMT, then Consumer and Clean Energy, and managed it for more than a decade. With more than 20 years of investment experience, Alex has been recognised as a “Best on the Street” analyst by the Wall Street Journal; but he’s also run a hedge fund, participated on the investment banking side of the business. Arnold has held board positions and played active roles in strategic development for a number of companies in the Technology, Consumer and Financial Services sectors.
Arnold says: “This move is like having my cake and eating it too. It allows me to continue to do what I love to do – building on a couple of decades of developing innovative products and frameworks to help institutional investors build unique perspectives and create alpha.”
Evan Schwartzberg (pictured), Odeon’s co-Founder and Head of Trading, says: “Bringing on Alex is a great representation of how we look at the world and the business. Our clients tell us how to bring value in an evolving market, and we listen. Generally, the right answer is not to copy the existing construct in the market but to innovate, and that’s why we went after him. We’re excited to keep building our business and the value proposition of Odeon by bringing in Alex and continuing to grow the firm and the equity business in creative and innovative ways.”
