Quantitative hedge fund and CTA pioneer Aspect Capital has unveiled a new systematic momentum-based investment strategy focused on Chinese financial and commodities futures, tapping into the expanding global institutional investor appetite for opportunities there.
The Aspect China Diversified Fund – which launches with more than USD100 million in external capital – uses the London-based firm’s systematic medium-term trend-following models to trade more than 40 onshore Chinese futures markets spanning six asset classes: agriculturals, bonds, energies, industrials, metals and stock indices.
The strategy brings the firm’s expertise in systematic investment to global investors who are keen to tap into the opportunities

Hedge funds’ performances remained in marginally positive territory throughout September, with year-to-date industry returns staying above 10 per cent heading into the final quarter of 2021, as managers grappled with sharp reversals in equities and fixed income amid heightened inflationary pressures.

Swedish asset manager Brummer & Partners’ flagship multi-strategy hedge fund vehicle edged into positive territory in September, as stock market highs earlier in the month rapidly reversed amid renewed volatility, and commodity prices surged higher.
The Brummer Multi-Strategy (BMS) vehicle – which comprises nine hedge fund strategies spanning equity, macro, trend-following and more – saw its SEK-denominated share class rise 0.5 per cent last month, and 0.4 per cent in its USD class. However, on a year-to-date basis the fund is still down 0.4 per cent following losses earlier in the year.
