PEGAS closes September with its highest volume on the futures segment in 2018

PEGAS, the pan-European gas trading platform operated by Powernext, saw a strong push on its futures market during the month of September to achieve its highest volume in 2018 on this segment with 96.8 TWh.

A total volume of 169.4 TWh was traded over September 2018 (September 2017: 184 TWh), including 173 GWh on the options market.
 
Spot trading volumes in September reached 72.4 TWh , up 19 per cent over the previous year (60.9 TWh). 24.9 TWh were traded on the Dutch TTF market area which was an increase of 43 per cent (September 2017: 17.5 TWh). The German delivery zones NCG and Gaspool achieved 25.1 TWh which represented a growth of over 22 per cent compared to the previous period (September 2017: 20.5 TWh). Trading of quality-specific contracts reached 4.6 TWh. The French PEG Nord and TRS stood at 10.7 TWh, slightly down from last year (September 2017: 10.8 TWh). The Austrian CEGH VTP volume reached 5.1 TWh (September 2017: 6.5 TWh). The Belgian markets ZTP and ZEE volumes traded 4.5 TWh, up 34 per cent (September 2017: 3.3 TWh). The Danish market ETF registered 1.4 TWh, approximately the same as last year (September 2017: 1.4 TWh). Finally, the Czech market area CZ VTP traded 126.4 GWh. 


 
Geographical spread transactions reached 5.4 TWh, while the German and French locational and hourly products totalled 569 GWh. 


 
In September, PEGAS derivatives closed the gas year in an optimistic mood with 96.8 TWh traded. The TTF market registered 82.6 TWh (September 2017: 104.7 TWh). Trading volumes in the NCG and GASPOOL delivery areas totalled 5.4 TWh (September 2017: 7.7 TWh). CEGH VTP more than doubled last year’s volume, achieving 5.4 TWh (September 2017: 2.0 TWh). Ahead of the French zone merger, the PEG Nord and TRS market areas reached 1.3 TWh (September 2017: 2.6 TWh). The Italian PSV hub registered 1.4 TWh (September 2017: 6.0 TWh). The ZTP and ZEE hubs totalled 319.5 GWh (September 2017: 212.3 GWh). Trading on the CZ VTP hub amounted to 406.9 GWh.


 
The volume of geographical spread transactions accounted for 5.1 TWh and time spread transactions amounted to 3.5 TWh. Finally, 4.4 TWh were traded on PEGAS’ OTC platforms.
