Revere Capital Advisors has re-launched Bayswater Asset Management, a systematic, fundamental global macro manager based in San Francisco.
Revere, a New York and London based investment group focused on emerging hedge fund managers, says the new launch reflects its commitment to source the most talented emerging hedge fund managers.
Bayswater Asset Management was co-founded in 2004 by Dr. Eva Xu and Daniel Schuessler who had previously spent over seven years working together at Mellon Capital Management.
Bayswater’s first managed account was seeded in August 2004 with USD25m from Man Global Strategies. This investment grew to over USD900m and at its peak AUM in August 2007 the firm managed over USD1.14bn on behalf of global institutional investors, funds of funds and family offices.
The highly volatile market conditions caused the Bayswater Asset Management team to close their first managed account in August 2008. After making improvements to the risk management controls, including the addition of a discretionary override capability, the new Bayswater fund was launched in July 2009.
Dan Barnett, chief executive of Revere, says: ‘Bayswater Asset Management is exactly the type of manager Revere is looking to invest in. They are a team of experienced individuals who have run significant assets before and are passionate about building their business. Systematic global macro remains an important strategy for investors.’
