The Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA) and the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) have set 4 April 2019 as the ‘go-live’ date for a new initiative to start linking International Securities Identification Numbers (ISINs) and Legal Entity Identifiers (LEIs) for the global financial industry.
The initiative has been created to help improve transparency of exposure by linking the legal issuing entity (Issuer) to their issuance of securities, and to also address some of the regulatory requirements under the Prospective Directive, the CSDR and SFTR.

Institutional trading and portfolio management systems provider TORA has successfully implemented its Order and Execution Management System (OEMS) and Portfolio Management System (PMS) at Systematic Investment Management AG (SIMAG) based in Zurich.

Powernext has developed an auction system for Guarantees of Origin (GOs) which will be launched in September 2019.
In August 2018, the French Minister for an Ecological and Solidary Transition appointed Powernext as the sole operator of this auction system, and in addition extended Powernext’s mandate to operate the national registry for GOs in France. Guarantees of Origin help to promote the consumption of electricity produced from renewable sources by ensuring its traceability. The auction system developed by Powernext allows for price formation and increases transparency in the GO market.

OpenGamma, a specialist in derivatives analytics, has raised USD10 million in funding led by early-stage fintech and B2B software venture capital firm Dawn.
The funding round includes participation from existing investors Accel, CME Ventures and ex-SunGuard CEO and prolific fintech angel investor Cristóbal Conde.

Ned Davis Research (NDR) has appointed Josh Monroe as its Global Head of Sales. Monroe will oversee a sales team spanning across the Americas, EMEA and APAC, which serve both the institutional and wealth management markets.
Most recently, Monroe served as Senior Vice President, Head of Sales, Trading and Risk Solutions for North America at Fidelity National Information Services (FIS). Prior to FIS, he served as Vice President within the Global Macro business at SAC Capital. His capital markets experience also includes roles at Morgan Stanley and Ayco, a Goldman Sachs Company.

Derivatives marketplace CME Group reached average daily volume (ADV) of 19.1 million contracts during March 2019, compared to 20.8 million contracts in March 2018.
In addition, total daily exchange trading volume surpassed 20 million contracts on each of the final six trading days in March.
Open interest (OI) at the end of March 2019 was 126 million contracts, up 9 per cent from year-end 2018 and unchanged from March 2018. First-quarter 2019 ADV marked the third-highest quarterly ADV ever with 18.6 million contracts, down from a record 22.2 million contracts in the first quarter of 2018.

Integral, a forex technology specialist, has reported that average daily volumes (ADV) across its platforms totalled USD39.0 billion in March 2019, an increase of 17 per cent compared to the previous month and 8.8 per cent more than March 2018.
