Turning Big Data into Small Data – Nasdaq, the world’s first electronic exchange, has ‘fintech’ running through its veins, and today introduces its latest innovation to support growing market demand for unstructured data sets.
The Nasdaq Analytics Hub will pull in data from Nasdaq’s own feeds as well as from a number of financial technology start-ups such as iSentium, which specialises in collecting and crystallising massive unstructured social media content, into market intelligence; in other words, to turn Big Data into Small Data, and Small Data into trading and investment signals.
Four data sets are being introduced as the initial offering
BrokerTec, a NEX Group business which provides electronic trading technology and services for the fixed income market, and MTS, a fixed income electronic trading venue that is part of London Stock Exchange Group, are expanding the RepoFunds Rate (RFR) indices by adding Dutch and Belgian repo indices.
The RFR indices were launched in 2012 and include the German, French, Italian, Spanish and pan-European RFR indices.
Each RepoFunds Rate index accurately reflects the specific effective cost of Repo funding for trades executed on BrokerTec, and MTS, which between them typically trade volumes of EUR230 billion per day (single counted). The

The Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX) has listed the first-ever US index futures contracts in Taiwan – S&P500 Futures and Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) Futures, in parallel with the launch of an after-hour trading session.
The listing was marked by a launching ceremony attended by guests from its international partners, CME Group and Deutsche Börse, as well as representatives from regulators, the American Institute in Taiwan, the American Chamber of Commerce in Taipei, and the futures industry.
