Sona adds ex-JP Morgan banker as structured credit-focused PM

Aymeric Paillat is leaving JP Morgan after 17 years with the bank to take up the position of Portfolio Manager at hedge fund Sona Asset Management, where he will focus on structured credit investment, according to a report by Reuters.

The report cites a person familiar with the matter as confirming that Paillat will start his new London-based role with Sona, which manages $5.7bn in assets from offices in both London and New York, in April. The firm, which notched a 20.2% return net of fees with its Master Fund in 2023, specialises in credit investments with a special focus on European markets.

According to his LinkedIn profile, at JP Morgan, Paillat was responsible for building out the bank’s global credit business and held several senior roles including Global Head of Macro Credit Trading.
