Taula Capital adds former UK budget watchdog chair as Senior Economic Adviser

Related Topics

Taula Capital Management, the $7.6bn macro-focused hedge fund led by Diego Megia, has appointed Richard Hughes, former chair of the UK’s Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR), as senior economic adviser in London, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Hughes will provide the investment team with insights on macroeconomic trends and the fiscal and monetary policy landscape.

Hughes, who stepped down from the OBR after a premature release of the autumn budget in late 2025, brings over two decades of experience in macroeconomic analysis, forecasting, and policy, including work with the International Monetary Fund. Alongside his role at Taula, he will remain a visiting lecturer at Oxford University’s Blavatnik School of Government and a senior fellow at the Kyiv School of Economics.

The appointment is part of Taula’s ongoing talent expansion following its 2024 launch, which attracted high-profile hires such as ex-Eisler Capital’s Lewis Morton and former Brevan Howard manager Alfredo Saitta. The hedge fund returned 11% in 2025 and focuses on macro, fixed-income relative value, and inflation-risk strategies.
