A disgruntled former employee is to blame for a “series of misinformation attacks” against Tiger Global Management over the past several months, according to a report by Bloomberg citing a letter sent to investors by the New York-based investment firm.
In the letter, Tiger Global claimed the ex-employee had written and distributed various communications anonymously using an encrypted messaging platform, the most recent of which took the form of a fake magazine article draft revealing supposed problems at the firm, which has circulated widely online, including to Tiger Global’s investors.
The firm said in the letter that the fake article was “packed with lies” and that has “engaged with experts” to respond to the “malicious attacks”.
