Tristan Almada, a Derivatives Trader at Singapore-headquartered commodity trading firm Trafigura, has left the business to launch his own commodities-focused hedge fund firm, Almada Capital, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The report cites corporate filings and people familiar with the matter as revealing that Almada Capital’s investment manager will be based in Geneva.
Almada spent four years trading commodity derivatives at Trafigura, having previously served as a Portfolio Manager at Andurand Capital Management, Moore Capital Management and Clive Capital.
According to Swiss corporate records, James Josling, who headed up energy trading in Africa for Trafigura before leaving in 2021, is on the board of Almada as a Managing Director.
