Activist investor Nelson Peltz has joined Unilever as a non-executive director with effect from 20 July, according to a report by MarketWatch.
Peltz is the head of activist hedge fund Trian Fund Management LP, which currently holds a stake of around 1.5% in Unilever, and is believed to have been agitating for change at the company following the failure of a $68 billion bid to acquire GlaxoSmithKline PLC’s consumer-health business in January of this year.
