Seyfarth Shaw has added partner Steven R Paradise to the Litigation department in New York. Paradise joins from Richards Kibbe & Orbe LLP, where he was a partner in the firm’s Litigation group in New York.

For more than 25 years, Paradise’s practice has focussed on representing clients in an extensive array of significant commercial and securities litigation. He has advised accounting firms and issuers in accounting-related litigation and enforcement matters and represented parties involved in Ponzi schemes and other financial frauds. In addition, Paradise has counselled businesses and individuals facing investigations and enforcement proceedings from the SEC, FINRA and other law enforcement and regulatory agencies. Among other clients, he regularly represents hedge funds, private equity firms, investment banks, accounting firms, and other financial institutions.

“Steven is a nationally recognised litigator who has successfully handled commercial and securities matters for some of the world’s most sophisticated Fortune 500 companies and financial institutions,” says Katherine Perrelli, chair of Seyfarth’s Litigation department. “Our team is eager to work with Steven as he grows his existing litigation practice across our firm’s full-service platform.”

An experienced ‘first-chair’ trial lawyer, Paradise has effectively litigated cases before state and federal courts in New York and other jurisdictions. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

“Steven is an experienced trial lawyer and adds considerable expertise and breadth to our litigation department, both nationally and locally in New York,” says Lorie Almon, co-managing partner of Seyfarth’s New York office.

“Steven has a renowned track record in the financial space. His addition expands our securities and complex commercial litigation capabilities on the East Coast,” says John Napoli, co-managing partner of Seyfarth’s New York office.

Earlier in his career, Paradise served as co-chair of the Securities Litigation and Enforcement group at Vinson & Elkins LLP. He received his JD, cum laude, from Cornell Law School, and earned his BBA, with distinction, from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
