Reginaldo Takara has quit his role as Banco Santander’s Head of Credit Risk in Brazil to join Vinland Capital, a Brazilian hedge fund co-founded by former Goldman Sachs Group Inc partner Andre Laport, as Partner and Head of Credit Research, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The report cites Vinland’s Jean-Pierre Cote Gil, who has been building out a unit to focus largely on corporate bonds over the past year, as confirming the appointment.
Takara took up his new position at Vinland this month after completing a period of garden leave from Santander, he said.
Laport, the first Brazilian to be made a Partner at Goldman Sachs, founded Vinland in 2018 with James Oliveira, formerly one of Banco BTG Pactual SA’s controlling partners.
The firm has seen a surge in AUM to to about BRL18bn ($3.7bn) from BRL4bn at the end of 2021, with its credit arm, which has launched three funds to date focused on local corporate debt, credit-backed securities and infrastructure bonds that offer investors a tax exemption, accounting for about BRL2bn.
