Waypoint expands European network with new Madrid presence

Related Topics

Waypoint Trading Solutions, part of TNS, is expanding its European exchange connectivity network with a new presence at the Equinix MD6 Madrid Data Center, positioning itself ahead of planned infrastructure changes at Spain’s main market operator.

The move is designed to support managed hosting and ultra-low latency Layer 1 connectivity to the BME Exchange as it prepares to relocate its matching engines from its Las Rozas facility to Equinix MD6, a migration expected in Q2 2027.

Waypoint said the expansion will allow trading firms, market data providers and exchange members to maintain proximity to core Spanish trading infrastructure, reducing latency and improving execution efficiency once the transition is complete. The firm will also provide Layer 3 services from the Madrid site.

The new Madrid deployment extends Waypoint’s existing European colocation footprint, which already spans major financial hubs including London, Frankfurt, Zurich and Nordic exchanges. It forms part of a broader strategy to provide low-latency connectivity across multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income and derivatives.

Company representatives said the expansion strengthens its ability to support clients requiring resilient, high-speed access to European trading venues as exchange infrastructure continues to consolidate around major data centre hubs.

BME officials welcomed the development, noting that expanded connectivity options at MD6 would support efficient access to Spanish markets as the migration proceeds.

Waypoint’s broader network already includes connectivity to major European venues such as SIX Swiss Exchange, Cboe Europe, Deutsche Börse, Euronext, LME, Nasdaq Nordic and the London Stock Exchange Group ecosystem.

The company positions itself as a managed infrastructure provider for trading firms seeking to avoid the complexity of building and maintaining in-house exchange connectivity systems, offering instead a fully managed service stack across hosting, market data and network operations.

The MD6 expansion reflects continued demand for low-latency colocation services as trading firms adapt to evolving exchange architectures and increasingly centralised data centre ecosystems across Europe.
