The proportion of females holding senior roles in the hedge fund industry is on the increase, according to a report by Preqin, with women accounting for 17% of C-suite and other high level positions including General Manager, Managing Director and Senior Vice President, as of the end of January 2024.
By comparison, 11% of women held senior positions as of the end of January 2020.
The hedge fund industry is ahead of the broader alternatives assets industry in this respect, with Preqin’s Women in Alternatives 2024 report revealing that overall 15% of the sector’s senior roles are currently held by women.
The proportion of professional females working in the alternative industry is on the increase overall, with women now accounting for 22% of all employees in the space.
