Mayer Capital enters fund of funds business
Eldon Mayer, former CEO and Chairman of New York based asset management company Lynch & Mayer, Inc., has launched NY-based Mayer Capital Advisors.
Mayer Capital said it will follow Lynch & Mayer's formula for success, this time in the fund of hedge funds business. The Board of Directors mirrors the Lynch & Mayer Board, including Lynch & Mayer's co-founder, Dennis P. Lynch.
An Advisory Board of experienced executives in the hedge fund field has been formed to assist in manager selection.
Mayer Capital is currently hiring key executives and staff in preparation for launching its first funds in early 2004.
Mayer said: "Our top priority is identifying a top performer with deep experience in manager selection. We are close to successful completion of this search, and are excited about the quality of the candidates that have expressed interest in joining our team."
The firm's emphasis will be on researching and selecting relatively new and small "under the radar" hedge funds. A number of studies have shown that attractive opportunities are often found by identifying such funds at an early stage. Special attention will be paid to arranging capacity with funds that plan to close early to new capital.
