Freddie Sizer, the former Head of European Physical Gas Trading at Freepoint Commodities, is launching a new hedge fund aimed at capitalising on heightened volatility in Europe’s energy markets, according to a report Bloomberg.
The report cites Sizer as confirming that Sizer Commodities Investments, based in Zug, Switzerland, is targeting $300m in funding ahead of its anticipated launch in January 2026. Sizer will serve as the fund’s Chief Investment Officer.
Sizer’s team includes Chief Executive Officer Peter Leoni and Sohail Malik, a former credit trader, serving as Managing Director. The fund will focus on trading in gas, power, emissions, and some liquefied natural gas (LNG), with a primary strategy centred on long-short absolute returns, with trades maturing over periods of up to three months.
The fund will be heavily data-driven, utilising algorithms to analyse market fundamentals. Sizer, who left Freepoint earlier this year, plans to expand the team by hiring four additional staff members before trading begins.
