Polen Capital has recruited four high-yield specialists from Abrdn for its London office, marking a key expansion in its European operations, according to a report by Bloomberg citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
Among the new hires is Ben Pakenham, formerly Abrdn’s head of European high yield and global loans, and investment director Adam Tabor. Together, Pakenham and Tabor managed about $2bn in assets for Abrdn, according to Bloomberg data.
Investment directors Andrew Carrie and Julien Martin are also joining Polen, according to one of Bloomberg’s sources.
Boca Raton-based Polen Capital, which manages approximately $63 billion, has been actively expanding its global presence. Earlier this year, it acquired UK-focused Somerset Capital Management’s funds, following its 2022 acquisition of DDJ Capital Management, which specialises in high-yield, bank loans, private credit, and special situations.
