Verition Fund Management, a global multi-strategy hedge fund firm with $12bn in assets under management, has launched its inaugural internship programme in collaboration with the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
The initiative aims to provide talented university students, including UAE Nationals, with hands-on experience in global finance, while addressing the region’s talent shortage identified in DIFC’s “Future of Finance” report released in February 2024.
Verition has expanded its presence in the DIFC since its first establishing an office there in 2023. The firm has rapidly increased its regional footprint, diversifying the range of strategies managed from its Dubai office.
The 16-week internship program will offer university students from top UAE institutions such as Zayed University, American University in Dubai, and the American University of Sharjah the opportunity to rotate across various investment-focused teams. Interns will gain exposure to Verition’s strategies, including Credit, Fixed Income & Macro, Convertible & Volatility Arbitrage, Event-Driven, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets, and Quantitative Strategies. Additionally, they will have insights into essential non-investment functions such as treasury, operations, legal/compliance, and more.
Hosted at Verition’s DIFC office, the internship promises a dynamic, collaborative learning environment where participants will receive mentorship from seasoned professionals. Interns will also experience Verition’s entrepreneurial culture, which emphasises open communication, innovation, and continuous learning.
As part of its commitment to fostering local talent, Verition’s internship programme aligns with DIFC’s efforts to attract and retain professionals across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region. DIFC’s report highlighted the importance of competitive compensation, training programs, and educational partnerships to address potential talent shortages.
The application process for the program will open in the coming weeks, with a focus on undergraduate students studying finance, economics, or related fields.
