Managed futures adviser Altis Partners (Jersey) is to offer managed accounts in its Global Commodity Portfolio for a limited period until 30 June 2009.

The Global Commodity Portfolio has been available via a Jersey-domiciled fund vehicle since April 2006. It has delivered net annualised returns of +16.5 per cent since inception, and +44.3 per cent in 2008.

Altis is best known for its flagship Global Futures Portfolio, a diversified systematic trading programme. The Global Futures Portfolio – Altis Master Fund, which has been trading since 2001, ended the year with net gains of +56.9 per cent. It uses a proprietary trading system with a portfolio-based approach to trade a large number of futures markets on the global exchanges.

The Global Commodity Portfolio applies the same proprietary system to a sub-set of around 60 markets in the commodity sectors, including several of the smaller, less accessible markets not available to the majority of larger managed futures funds.

Georgia Nakou, head of business development, says: ‘We have had persistent demand for a commodity-only product from institutions and specialist funds of funds. Investors are keen to use commodities as a diversifier, but also as a route to absolute return. Long-only commodity products have demonstrably failed to deliver on the second count, and have exposed investors to the downside of commodity cycles. The Altis GCP is designed to perform in a fuller range of market conditions, and has delivered outstanding performance not only through the commodity bull run but throughout this last eventful last year.’

The Altis Global Commodity Portfolio will be offered for managed account investors at fees of 2/20 for a minimum account size of USD10m for a limited period until 30 June 2009.

The Global Commodity Portfolio – Altis Master Fund is open to minimum investments of USD500,000.
