Citadel Securities’ Asia-Pacific business development head departs

Related Topics

Jonathan Finney, Managing Director and Head of Asia-Pacific Business Development at Citadel Securities – Citadel founder Ken Griffin’s market-making business – has exited the firm, according to a report by Bloomberg citing sources familiar with the matter.

Finney, who also served as Chief Operating Officer for the firm’s Asia-Pacific options business, stepped down earlier this month.

During his seven-year tenure, Finney played a key role in regional expansion efforts, overseeing market development initiatives and managing relationships with exchanges, brokers, and infrastructure providers. His profile is listed on the website of Hong Kong’s Financial Services Development Council.

Prior to joining Citadel Securities, Finney spent over a decade at Fidelity International, where he rose to lead global systematic trading.

The departure comes amid a period of robust growth for non-bank liquidity providers. According to Crisil Coalition Greenwich, independent market makers generated $25.6bn in trading revenues across asset classes in 2024 – a 22% year-on-year increase that outpaced the market-making divisions of global investment banks.
