Copeland Capital Management has appointed Sofia A Rosala (pictured) as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Rosala comes to Copeland from Aberdeen Asset Management, where she served as US Counsel and Deputy Head of Compliance.

Earlier in her career Sofia was a Senior Associate for Morgan, Lewis & Bockius and prior to that she was Vice President and Corporate Counsel at SEI Investments. Sofia holds a JD from Temple University School of Law and a BA in International Relations and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

"We are thrilled to add someone of Sofia's caliber and level of experience to the team," says Eric Brown, Copeland's Founder and CEO. "We have had great success growing our institutional, sub-advisory, and mutual fund businesses over the last 24 months and felt it was important to add a top tier and well respected professional like Sofia to help oversee the legal and compliance areas of each segment of our business.”

"Much of Copeland's growth to date has been in our domestic strategies," says Steve Adams, Copeland's, Chief Financial and Operating Officer. "As we look ahead and plan for our next stage of growth, we believe our International strategies will play a much bigger role. We have invested heavily in building a strong international team led by Erik Granade and Ken Lee. Our performance has been strong and we have seen increased interest from large institutional clients. We also recently launched our second international mutual fund. As a result of the growing importance of our International business, and increased complexities that go along with such strategies, we felt Sofia's legal and compliance experience at a large global asset management firm made her the perfect fit for what we were looking for.”

"I am happy to join such a strong team of like-minded people," says Rosala. "I look forward to the opportunity to contribute and build on the foundation of success that has already been put in place at Copeland."
