Diversified Energy Company was the most shorted UK listed company as of 5 November, according to new analysis by global exchange traded products provider GraniteShares, with 8.22% of the company’s stock having been loaned out by nine fund managers.
Arrowstreet Capital Limited Partnership held the largest short position in the gas and oil production company at 1.75%.
Global investment company and asset manager, abrdn, was the second most shorted company with 5.96% of its stock held short by six investment firms, followed by Ocado Group and Pennon Group with 5.65% and 5.45% of their stock held short by five and six fund managers, respectively.
The analysis revealed GLG Partners held the highest number of short positions on UK listed companies of any investment firms, with 42 active shorts, followed by Qube Research & Technologies Limited, and Marshall Wace, with 32 and 30 active short positions, respectively.
