The European Energy Exchange (EEX) has published the 2022 calendars for the auctions of EU Aviation Allowances (EUAA) for the EU Member States as well as for the auctioning of EU Emission Allowances (EUA) for the UK in respect of generation of electricity in Northern Ireland for the single wholesale electricity market in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
This has been coordinated with the European Commission, the EU Member States and the EEA EFTA states participating in the common auction platform (CAP3) as well as with the competent authorities of Germany and Poland, as well as with UK authorities.
In its capacity as the common auction platform appointed by 25 Member States and the EEA EFTA states, EEX will conduct five auctions of EU Aviation Allowances (EUAA) in 2022. The auctions will take place in a bi-monthly rhythm: 2022:
9 February 2022: 600,000 EUAA
6 April 2022: 600,000 EUAA
15 June 2022: 600,000 EUAA
7 September 2022: 600,000 EUAA
16 November 2022: 602,000 EUAA
EEX will conduct one EUAA auction on behalf of Germany on Wednesday, 19 October 2022, with a volume of 586,500 EUAAs. On behalf of Poland, EEX will also conduct one EUAA auction on Wednesday, 18 May 2022, with a volume of 109,500 EUAAs.
The EUA for Northern Ireland will auctioned during the following times:
23 February 2022: 1,108,500 EUA (volume of 2021)
21 September 2022: 1,246,000 EUA (volume of 2022)
