Elliott weighs £3bn sale of UK data centre operator Ark

Related Topics

Elliott Investment Management is exploring strategic options for Ark Data Centres, the UK operator it has owned since 2012, in a deal that could value the business at more than £3bn ($4bn), according to a report by Reuters.

The report cites unnamed people familiar with the matter as revealing that US hedge fund has held early-stage discussions with advisers and potential infrastructure investors, with a formal process potentially launching in early 2026. A previous attempt to sell Ark in 2023 fell short of Elliott’s valuation expectations, but demand for data centre assets has surged on the back of artificial intelligence and cloud computing growth.

Ark, headquartered in Wiltshire, runs Crown Hosting Data Centres in partnership with the UK government, giving it access to all public sector requirements. Elliott owns a majority stake alongside European real estate investor Revcap.
