Fairlight Capital Partners, which seeds, backs, and builds specialist investment managers, has named Mikkel Bates as Senior Board Adviser, as the investment firm accelerates its push into the UK professional investor and wealth management market.
Founded in 2018, Fairlight’s recent UK entry was via a strategic partnership with trend-following global macro firm Bowmoor Capital, whose flagship Global Alpha strategy — a long-short systematic quantitative approach — has returned 17.17% annualised net of fees since inception in 2013.
Bates brings more than four decades of experience across regulation, marketing and product development in retail and institutional markets. He was most recently Regulatory Manager at FE fundinfo, advising on fund marketing requirements across the UK, EU and other jurisdictions. His earlier career includes senior roles at Société Générale Asset Management, Castle Trust Capital, and GLG Partners.
