Vikas Sharma, a seasoned professional with over two decades at Citi, has returned to the finance industry after a two-year hiatus joining multi-strategy hedge fund major Millennium, according to a report by eFinancial Careers, citing Sharma’s LinkedIn profile.
Sharma, who joined Citi in London in 2000 as a regulatory specialist, successfully transitioned from a middle-office role to become global head of strategy and structuring for prime finance. By 2019, he had risen to the position of managing director within the structuring team.
After leaving Citi in 2022, Sharma’s activities remained unclear—until now. While the specifics of his role at Millennium remain undisclosed, it is possible he has joined an existing pod within the firm. Millennium, known for employing several former Citi professionals as portfolio managers, including Matthew Gomez Menenzes and Paul Murray, declined to comment on Sharma’s appointment.
Sharma himself has not commented on his new position or his time away from the industry.
