Fulcrum Asset Management appoints Senior Adviser

Fulcrum Asset Management has appointed Akio Ohtsuka as Senior Adviser. He is currently Executive Advisor of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank Ltd.

Ohtsuka will provide Fulcrum with strategic insight into the Japanese asset management landscape.

Ohtsuka has worked in many of the most senior roles at Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co Ltd and latterly, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank Ltd, since joining the firm in April 1976. He is widely recognised as a key figure in the financial services and pension market in Japan, where he has spearheaded a drive to increase uptake of alternatives and multi strategy products. From 2012 to 2015, he was Executive Deputy President and CEO of the Fiduciary Business Division of the bank and, between 2015 and 2017 he was Executive Director and Chairman of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Management Co Ltd, a leading asset management company focusing on the Japanese institutional and retail market.

Ohtsuka has also authored several seminal financial publications. The most recent, “Triumph Over Adversity: 36 practices and principles for winning in business”, is soon to be published in English.
