Following a slightly challenging September period, CTAs reported negative performance in October, according to data released by Societe Generale.
All CTAs entered into negative territory, both for the month and YTD, with the SG CTA Index down 2.79 per cent and the SG Trend Index down 4.29 per cent. The short-term and quant macro strategies fared considerably better as the SG STTI Index was down marginally by 0.40 per cent.

LaSalle Investment Management (LaSalle) has launched LaSalle Global Partner Solutions (LaSalle GPS), a new fully integrated division dedicated to building robust, indirect investment portfolios by partnering with expert real estate operators across the world.
The launch follows the closing of La Salle’s acquisition of the Real Estate Multi-Manager business of Aviva Investors.

LiquidX, a global network for illiquid assets, continued its rapid expansion in the third quarter, as the firm added new market participants, new products and new technology. The quarter was capped by a 43 per cent increase in September volume year over year.

Electronic US Treasuries (UST) trading venue LiquidityEdge has announced record trading volumes during October 2018.
Average daily trading volumes reached USD15 billion, whilst on 3 October, participants traded over USD22 billion in US Treasuries across both on-the-runs and off-the-runs.
The surge in activity has been driven by favourable market conditions and the growing popularity of the directed, disclosed model championed by LiquidityEdge. Barrick Gold Corporation’s shareholders have voted to approve the issuance of Barrick common shares in connection with the Merger of Barrick and Randgold Resources Limited (Randgold), and the continuance of Barrick to the Province of British Columbia under the Business Corporations Act (British Columbia).
The issuance of Barrick common shares in connection with the Merger, and the continuance, were each approved by more than 99 per cent of the votes cast at a special meeting of shareholders.
