Depositary assets at INDOS Financial have grown to USD25 billion, only three months since the service provider passed the USD20 billion milestone on 1 February.  According to Bill Prew (pictured), CEO of INDOS Financial, this continuing, rapid rate of growth is partially a function of INDOS’ competitive and tailored fee structure where, in contrast to the fixed rates charged by many providers of depositary services, rates decline as managers’ assets grow.    “More generally,” says Prew, “our message about the virtues of independence is getting through.  INDOS firmly believes that depositary services are more effective and will add value when

The Technology Index jumped 2.96 per
Hedge fund returns were positive, led by CTAs, during the last week, mainly thanks to their long energy and bond positions, according to the latest Weekly Brief from Lyxor’s Cross Asset Research team. Merger funds also benefitted from a rapid spread tightening across most large deals.   By contrast, L/S Equity funds did not benefit from the bounce. They had limited exposures to momentum and energy stocks, two key drivers this week. The earnings season, which sanctioned disappointments more than it rewarded upside surprise did not help either. Special Situations also lagged.   Since mid-April the turn in dollar and

Many institutional investors are contacted by thousands of managers a year, meeting with a few hundred, have follow up meetings with fifty, and ultimately allocating to two. In this competitive environment, any edge over the competition is vital. Having a well thought-out social media strategy is one way to achieve this. During the past five years, the use of social media has significantly increased within the hedge fund industry. Today, a vast majority of firms have at least some presence on social
