The Hedge Fund Association (HFA) has appointed Christina Bodden and Colin Nicholson as co-directors of the association’s Cayman Islands Chapter.

These hedge fund industry professionals have been selected to direct the HFA’s local member events and educational programmes, and to contribute to the organisation’s global mission of increasing transparency, accelerating business and professional development, and fostering greater trust in alternative investments.

Bodden is a partner in the investment funds group of international law firm Maples and Calder. She specialises in the structuring of private equity funds and advising on the related downstream transactions. Bodden also works extensively with major institutions and hedge fund managers and their onshore counsel, advising on the structuring and ongoing operation of all aspects of investment funds. Additionally, she has a particular expertise in hedge fund sideletter arrangements and fund restructurings.
Bodden joined the law firm's investment funds group in 2004 and was elected as a partner in 2012. She is a co-founder of the Cayman Islands location of 100 Women in Hedge Funds and serves both on their local main committee and their philanthropic sub-committee.

Bodden says: “I am delighted to accept the role as co-director for the Cayman Islands chapter of the HFA. This association has proven to be a valuable resource for the hedge funds industry and I am excited to partner with such a dynamic and forward thinking group of individuals. I am honoured to add my voice to the HFA's mandate of advancing transparency, development and trust in alternative investments and I look forward to working with Colin to raise its profile in our region.”

Nicholson is a partner in alternative investments practice of KPMG in the Cayman Islands and is the head of learning and development for the firm. Nicholson is a Canadian Chartered Accountant, CPA (Illinois), and is a CFA Charter holder. He serves on the Cayman Islands Society of Professional Accountants Executive Council and Public Practice Committee and is a past member of the board of directors of the CFA Society of the Cayman Islands. Nicholson has 15 years of professional experience with offshore alternative investment and private wealth management clients.
“Due to investor demand and increased government oversight, improving transparency and educating managers about the evolving regulatory environment are key themes for the HFA, as well as our local alternative investments industry,” says Nicholson. "I am honoured to be involved in a leadership capacity for the HFA, one of the most prominent non-profit hedge fund associations, and a group whose mission is to speak up for and unite all industry participants.”

“We thank both Christina and Colin for stepping up to lead for the hedge fund industry in the Cayman Islands,” says Ron Geffner, vice president of the HFA. “Their efforts will result in new opportunities and a stronger voice for HFA members in the Caribbean region and around the globe.”
