HSBC hires Paul Hamill as global head of prime services head

HSBC has appointed former Citadel Asset Management COO Paul Hamill Hamill as global head of prime services.  

Hamill who has over 20 years of financial services experience experience with a particular focus on alternative asset management, prime brokerage and financing both from a sell and a buy side perspective, will report to Cian Burke (pictured) head of prime services and co-head of securities services, and Patrick George, global head of equities. Burke’s role at HSBC has been expanded and he will now oversee HSS, Prime Services and the firm’s OTC Clearing offering.

HSBC launched it’s prime services offering in July 2009 and the business has seen significant growth in the past two years and now services a growing number of hedge fund clients. With many clients now looking for ‘partnerships’ with their prime services provider, HSBC wants to more closely align the business with it’s Global Equities offering by merging its Global Equity Finance and Delta 1 business with Prime Services. Hamill will concentrate solely on the prime platform and the the integration of Global Equity Finance and Delta 1.
