Investcorp announces key hedge funds executive appointments

Alternative investment solutions provider Investcorp has made two new hires to its hedge funds team , with Nick Vamvakas joining as a Managing Director and head of the Single Manager Platform, and Brian Rice joining as a Managing Director and head of Fund of Funds Marketing, a role in which he will assist in raising assets from non-institutional investors, in addition to generating new clients.

"To maintain our edge, Investcorp continues to invest in our people and processes to build on the success we achieved in 2009," says Deepak Gurnani (pictured), chief investment officer and head of hedge funds. "Nick and Brian will be important to maintaining our success and communicating our views and offerings to our growing base of clients."

Investcorp’s hedge fund team continues to expand after 2009, a year in which both its funds of funds and Single Manager Platform attracted over USD1 billion in new assets, much of it from US institutions. The hedge funds business currently manages over USD4.4 billion in total capital, while Several of Investcorp’s single managers recently garnered accolades from industry insiders, including the Hedgeweek 2010 award for the best ‘Multi-Strategy Fund’.

Vamvakas’ primary responsibility will be to grow the USD1.3 billion single manager platform. Before joining Investcorp, he developed and managed hedge fund seeding programs for Lyxor Asset Management, a subsidiary of the Societe Generale Group.

Rice previously worked with The Trust Company of the West. Before that, he spent nearly 10 years at Deutsche Bank, most recently as Managing Director and Head of Global Sales for the firm’s absolute return/hedge fund practice.
