JPMorgan hires BNP Paribas QIS head amid Paris quant talent competition

Related Topics

JPMorgan has hired Vincent Berthelemy, head of quantitative investment strategies (QIS) and asset allocation at BNP Paribas, in a senior move highlighting ongoing competition for quant talent in Paris.

Berthelemy will join JPMorgan as head of QIS portfolio construction in Paris. He has previously held roles at SocGen, Lyxor Asset Management and Investcorp across London and New York, and spent four years at BNP Paribas leading its QIS and asset allocation strategy.

The hire comes as US banks continue to expand their presence in Paris, particularly in structured and systematic products. JPMorgan now employs around 1,000 staff in the city, up from roughly 250 at the time of Brexit.

The move also reflects broader churn in the European quant and structured products market, with institutions competing for experienced portfolio construction and systematic trading talent.
Berthelemy’s appointment forms part of JPMorgan’s continued build-out of its global QIS platform amid sustained demand for systematic strategies from institutional investors.
