Laven Partners says that from its launch in May 2008 up to the end of December, the Laven Global Systematic Fund USD share class returned 3.63 per cent and the sterling share class launched in October 2008 returned 18.94 per cent.

The strong performance was generated mainly from investments across long term rates, and from sharp corrections in currency contracts in both JPY/USD and EUR/USD.

The fund is targeted at sophisticated investors and the minimum investment is the equivalent of USD100,000.

It seeks short term trading opportunities, which Laven Partners says can offer investors steady long-term returns with low volatility and minimal correlation with equities.

The sterling share class was launched to ensure UK investors pay only 18 per cent capital gains tax on realised gains as it is eligible for registration with the HMRC.

The Global Systematic ST SPC Fund is a short term (high frequency) systematic/model driven commodity trading advisor strategy. It invests in very liquid instruments in order to generate returns by exploiting market inefficiencies in stock, bond and currency markets.
