Lyxor Asset Management has teamed up with Portland Hill to launch the Lyxor/Portland Hill Fund, a mid to long term oriented global fundamental equity strategy with a Pan-European focus.
The Fund combines a traditional Long/Short approach with an event-driven strategy and allows corporates to be targeted.
The strategy combines strong underlying fundamentals with a high probability of benefiting from catalyst market events, ranging from ‘soft’ (business model changes, company transformations or industry trends) to ‘hard’ (mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs etc).
The Fund leverages on Portland Hill’s recognised European geographic and sector expertise providing an understanding of upcoming situations, such as mergers, recapitalisation, spin-offs, or restructuring. The investment universe leverages namely on opportunities found in the liquid Midcap corporates space (USD10-20 billion), an under-researched and undervalued area with high potential and often untapped investment opportunities.
Whilst equity markets have performed well in 2017, many investors are currently concerned by the level of market valuations and risk of potential reversal. This is a favourable environment for alternative equity strategies with both long and short positions. Moreover, L/S strategies leveraging on corporate events, with risk management proven credentials, may prove to be a source of positive uncorrelated returns and diversification.
The Fund, with daily liquidity, is now passported into 10 countries and is available on Lyxor’s Alternative UCITS Platform for a minimum subscription of EUR100K (Class I) and EUR10K (class A). Not all share classes are available or registered for sale in all jurisdictions. Lyxor Portland Hill becomes the 12th fund on Lyxor’s fast-growing EUR2.6 billion Alternative UCITS platform, illustrating investors’ growing appetite for liquid and transparent investment vehicles as well as their search for diversifying strategies.
Portland Hill is an Investment Management Group founded in 2011 by Thierry Lucas. The Group focuses on fundamental catalyst-driven investing across liquid asset classes, and has successfully invested throughout different environments. The Group’s mission statement is to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns over the medium to long term.
