Hedge fund performance took a small hit in recent days on the back of adverse market developments and trend reversals, according to the latest Weekly Brief from Lyxor’s Cross Asset Research team. Lyxor writes that higher risk aversion was not related to specific earnings miss or macro disappointments. Instead it looked liked investors were securing gains after several quarters of strong performance for risk assets. As the earnings season is coming to an end and the US tax reform blueprint is likely to be less ambitious than expected, investors have a higher tendency to err on the side of caution.
Goldsky Asset Management, an Australia-based quantmental and behavioural science-focused hedge fund that specialises in global equities, has gained 16.05 per cent year-to-date, beating its index benchmark by 7.94 per cent. October was the best month of the year so far for Alternative UCITS funds with the LuxHedge Global Alternative UCITS index advancing 0.68 per cent, bringing YTD gains to 2.29 per cent. The total universe currently contains over 1400 funds, more than 75 per cent post positive returns year-to-date. The European Energy Exchange (EEX) has acquired the remaining 12.3 per cent shareholding in French based Powernext from 3GRT and EDF. In doing so, EEX becomes the sole owner of Powernext with immediate effect.
