Euronext has reported strong revenue growth in the third quarter of 2017, with an increase of 14.1 per cent over Q3 2016 to EUR128.7 million, mainly due to improvement of volumes in a stabilised macro environment.
Cash average daily volume (ADV) was up 9.5 per cent in Q3 2017 compared to Q3 2016, to EUR6.9 billion, while market share of cash equities strengthened to 65.2 per cent, with robust yield. In addition, an improved competitive landscape for Dutch derivatives has seen equity derivatives ADV increase 20.8 per cent.

OTCX, an over-the-counter derivatives platform, has secured backing from the Angel CoFund as part of its latest funding round.
The Angel CoFund is a GBP100 million investment fund, supported by the British Business Bank, with objectives to back promising UK businesses and help develop the important business angel investment market.

Quant CTA strategies posted the strongest gains in October according to hedge fund data from HFRI.
All hedge funds posted strong gains in October, the firm says, and equity and fixed income strategies boosted returns to provide HFRI with its twelfth consecutive positive month and the strongest return since July 2016.
The HFRI Fund Weighted Composite Index (FWC) climbed +1.3 per cent in October, increasing the YTD gain to +7.2 per cent and extending the record Index Value to 13,885. The firm writes that Risk Parity strategies also saw strong performance across all volatility target levels in the month.

PEGAS has launched Congestion Management Products (CMP) on the French Nord and TRS delivery zones, to help the Transmission System Operators GRTgaz and TIGF manage potential congestions on their grids.
The Nord and TRS zones are scheduled to merge in 2018 but bottlenecks could still occur in some specific flow configurations. Some can be observed already today, such as during last winter when grids witnessed periods of high tensions. To avoid these situations, physical mechanisms, such as forced renomination instructions, already exist. Aspect Capital (Aspect), a USD7.0 billion systematic investment manager, has launched the Aspect Alternative Markets Fund, a managed futures trend following strategy which invests in a range of non-traditional, and harder to access markets.
From credit indices and emerging markets currency forwards to European electricity futures, the Cayman-domiciled Fund provides investors with a new diversified and diversifying source of returns which is expected to be uncorrelated to traditional asset classes, and also have a reduced correlation to traditional systematic trend following strategies operating in major liquid futures markets.

Total volume traded on Cboe Futures Exchange (CFE) year to date in 2017 has exceeded the total volume of all contracts traded on CFE in 2016.
Total volume traded on CFE in all of 2016 was 60.2 million contracts, total volume traded on CFE through October 2017 is 61.9 million contracts.

Billionaire Mario Gabelli (pictured), the founder of the Gabelli Asset Management Company Investors (GAMCO Investors), is backing New York-based hedge fund management firm Gondor Capital Management by investing in its domestic hedge fund Gondor Partners LP.
Gabelli’s assistant Betsy Dunn said that Mario has confidence with Vincent Au’s understanding of the markets and generating above-average profits.
Dunn says: “He (Mario Gabelli) invested in Gondor Capital because he thought Vincent had passion and commitment and a good nose for stocks.”

PEGAS, the pan-European gas trading platform operated by Powernext, achieved one of its strongest results in October 2017 with a total volume of 187.3 TWh, up 43 per cent compared to the previous year (October 2016: 131.2 TWh).
A monthly volume record was registered on PEGAS TTF Spot with 23.3 TWh (previous record: 19.5 TWh in January 2017).
Spot trading volume in October reached 75.7 TWh, an increase of 45 per cent on the previous year (52.1 TWh). It represents the second best total figure registered on PEGAS Spot market. As mentioned, the Dutch market area TTF saw a
Euronext achieved trading volumes in October 2017, with the average daily transaction value on the Euronext cash order book standing at EUR7,172 million, up 13.3 per cent compared to October 2016 and down 1.7 per cent from the previous month.
The average daily transaction value on ETFs was EUR396 million, down 6.1 per cent compared to October 2016 and down 8.4 per cent from the previous month. Euronext’s ETF offering increased this month to 831 listings at the end of October 2017 compared to 790 end of 2016.
In October 2017, the overall average daily volume on derivatives reached 497,684 contracts, up 8.6
