The Lyxor L/S Equity strategy outperformed this week, mostly from beta, according to the latest Weekly Brief from the firm’s Cross Asset Research team.
L/S Equity returns were homogeneously red in December, and green in January. Yet, a number of managers stood out in December, giving back some gains afterward.

Jupiter Asset Management has appointed Mark Richards as a Strategist in its growing Multi-Asset team, reporting to Head of Strategy, Multi-Asset, Talib Sheikh.
Richards has sixteen years of experience covering economics and financial markets, most of which as he has spent as an equity strategist. He will work closely with Talib and the Multi-Asset team with a particular focus on the Jupiter Flexible Income fund, which launched in September 2018. The role of Strategist is a new addition for Jupiter and will give Richards the flexibility to draw on the breadth of equity and macro expertise across the company’s investment
The gross return of the SS&C GlobeOp Hedge Fund Performance Index for December 2018 measured -1.35 per cent.
Hedge fund flows as measured by the SS&C GlobeOp Capital Movement Index declined 1.69 per cent in January.

The European Energy Exchange (EEX) has published the calendar for the 2019 auctions of EU allowances (EUA) and EU aviation allowances (EUAA) on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The calendar complements the auction calendars which have been published in December 2018 for Poland and for the 25 EU Member States in the framework of the CAP2 auctions.
The EUA auctions on behalf of Germany will be scheduled on Fridays during the period from 1 February to 13 December 2019.

The Wilshire Liquid Alternative Index, which provides a representative baseline for how the broad liquid alternative investment category performs, returned -1.59 per cent in December, outperforming the -1.93 per cent monthly return of the HFRX Global Hedge Fund Index.
