MUFG Investor Services has partnered with Point Nine Limited, a specialist in outsourced operations, processing and reporting for post-trade execution. Maples Fiduciary, a provider of fiduciary and corporate administration services, has appointed Guy Dominy as Director, Business Development in North America. Dominy (pictured), brings extensive buy and sell side experience in the asset management industry, including senior roles at private equity fund managers and fund administrators. In his most recent role he was Managing Director and head of the US business development team of a global asset services provider, responsible for US growth strategy, product development and sales of all divisional and group business lines. He also brings considerable advisory experience as a funds lawyer at major international law firms.
Cambridge Capital, a hedge fund with a focus on cryptocurrencies, will be joining the Apex Token Fund, the first tokenised fund of funds. The firm’s mixture of long- and short-term trading strategies will add profitability and security to Apex, allowing it to achieve consistent returns for its investors. Cambridge Capital invests in a wide range of ICOs, liquid tokens, and protocols, dividing its investments into long and short categories. Long investments are chosen on the basis of code and team reviews, regulatory concerns, and likelihood of being replaced with existing coins. Meanwhile, short investments are selected based on market analysis.
The Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), the global representative of alternative investment managers, has appointed Claire Van Wyk-Allan as its new Head of Canada. Van Wyk-Allan, who takes over on 2 April, joins AIMA from RBC Global Asset Management, where she served as Business Development Manager, Advisor Channel Sales. Prior to joining RBC in 2013, she worked for Arrow Capital Management, where she spent almost four years as Regional Manager, covering advisors across Ontario.   She has been an active member of AIMA for almost a decade, including serving as a member of the AIMA Canada board since 2014.  She
Cboe Global Markets has successfully migrated the Cboe Futures Exchange (CFE) to its proprietary Bats technology with trading on the new platform opening in Global Trading Hours at 5:00 pm CT on Sunday, 25 February.  At the end of the trading session at 4:00 pm CT on Monday, 26 February, 98 trading firms accessed the new platform, trading a total of 159,492 contracts. UK-based hedge fund firm Man Group has reported a 35 per cent increase in funds under management during 2017, up USD12.8 billion to USD109.1 billion. The company says that net revenues increased by 33 per cent during the year reflecting good absolute performance fee generation and 7 per cent growth in net management fee revenue, while adjusted profit before tax rose to USD384 million from USD205 million in 2016.
