BATS Global Markets (BATS) today reported July data and highlights including record market share of 10.8 per cent for its US options business, surpassing the previous record of 9.9 per cent set in April 2015.
In US options, BATS set a one-day record of 2.47 million contracts traded on July 24 and also set a one-day market share record of 11.8 per cent on 21 July. In July, BATS Options recorded eight of its top ten days on record in terms of market share.

Macro Systematic Diversified hedge funds experienced a powerful recovery in July, reversing sharp losses from the prior month with gains across commodity, currency and equity positions, according to data released today by HFR.
Offsetting these gains, hedge funds with exposure to China, Energy and Discretionary Commodity posted losses for the month, with these divergent performance groups resulting in overall mixed industry performance for July. The Credit Suisse Liquid Alternative Beta Index (CSLAB), which aims to reflect the performance of the overall hedge fund industry, finished up 1.38% in July.
The Long/Short Equity strategy was the strongest performer for the month and year-to-date, finishing up 4.65% in July and 5.61% year-to-date. Although the Event Driven and Merger Arbitrage strategies were down in July, all strategies posted positive performance year-to-date.

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has issued an order requiring Morgan Stanley & Co to pay a USD300,000 civil monetary penalty for failing to hold sufficient US Dollars in segregated accounts in the United States to meet all of its US Dollar obligations to cleared swaps customers.
The Order also finds that the firm failed to implement adequate procedures and requires Morgan Stanley to cease and desist from violating CFTC Regulations, as charged.
