San Francisco-based Ashbury Heights Capital has been granted leave to proceed with its fraud and breach of contract lawsuit against market intelligence company FactSet Research Systems and securities executive Doug Engmann.  The ruling by a California Court could impact over a dozen of  the world’s leading financial institutions.   Ashbury, founded by MIT graduates Eric McGill and Paul Mingardi, claims that a breakthrough patented analytics technology it developed has been misused by FactSet and Engmann in violation of a license agreement the parties entered in 2012. Hedge funds were up 0.92 per cent in May, according to the Barclay Hedge Fund Index compiled by BarclayHedge. Markit has launched an Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD) external valuer service providing independent valuations for alternative investment fund managers. Argos investment Management is working to eliminate subjectivity from its investment choices by employing a systematic approach to rank European stocks according to both fundamental value criteria and the outlook dynamics of each stock.  Drawing from behavioural finance theory, the firm is trying to eliminate human error and known investor biases from the investment process.     The focus of the approach is the Argos European Systematic Long/Short Fund managed by Renaud Froissart. Lazard Asset Management (LAM) has appointed Léopold Arminjon as a portfolio manager/analyst. European policy makers have proposed money market fund (MMF) reforms relatively similar to the US changes slated to take effect next year, says Moody's Investors Service in a new report. "As in the US, the goal in Europe is to enhance MMFs' ability to withstand stressed market conditions, reducing systemic risk. The Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) has appointed Denise Voss as chairman of ALFI.
